Connecting the Dots

connect the dotsOnly fear the LORD, and serve him in truth with all your heart: for consider how great things he hath done for you.” 1Samuel 12:24…………………………The fear of the Lord tendeth to life, and he that hath it shall abide satisfied.” Proverbs 19:23

I am sure you are familiar with the pencil game “Connect the Dots”? What starts out as a bunch of round blips on a page, eventually form the outline of something recognizable. Well, I think God’s Word has so much in it, that by taking a couple of passages, we can link them together to form an image of something only He has fashioned. Until we see its completion, we may not notice the significance of His abundant truths. How far-reaching and creative they are!

The instruction in these verses to “fear the Lord” is a reality check, of sorts. Having a healthy respect for God’s sovereignty and majesty automatically puts us into a submissive, God-fearing position. We stand in awe, bathed in His peaceful and perfect presence. God has done great things….connect the dots… for you. He is motivated by unconditional love. There is nothing you have had to do to earn God’s favor. He desires to fellowship with you, with each one of us.

….Connect more dots…. and look at another verse which uses the fear of the Lord………

Satisfaction, safety and serenity…..they are promises that will benefit your life as a result of acknowledging that God is your Lord and Master. How foolish we are to refuse or reject His deity!

Next time you read your Bible, try to connect the dots. His Words will make sense of what is lacking in your life and they may form a most unique picture of excellence!
